The performance of the students of this institution in the academic aspect is always excellent. There is a keen competition to get admission at this college. Students trained here are much sought after to work in the ever increasing number of schools in and around Bidar. The college has been growing from strength to strength with the dedicated service of the teachers.
Students of this college continue to bring laurels not only performing well in the examinations but also by participating in co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The college strives hard to achieve the comprehensive development of the student trainees so that they can bear the torch of knowledge to dispel the darkness of ignorance in their future career as teachers.
The college has its own building with computer lab, science lab and psycho-lab with quality equipment facilities and modern amenities.
With an experienced band of teachers, able Principal and cooperating students the college hopes to march on along its chartered course towards its goal of excellence in teacher education.
This institution has reached 44 years of rendering its services to the field of Teacher Education equipping itself with necessary infrastructural and academic facilities to a satisfactory extent. With this background the institutions is desirous to know its present status at par with growing teacher educational structure. At this stage our institution is interested to undergo self-assessment as NAAC is providing this opportunity. By this we can enhance quality of our programs, performance, facilities and efforts.
Teaching faculty in the college is 21, library has 6638 books with a number of journals and news papers.
Hyderabad Karnataka which comprises Bidar, Bellary, Gulbarga, Raichur and Koppal districts is still considered as socially, economically and educationally backward region and was the only College of Education at Gulbarga before 1980. Dr. A. B. Malakareddy, the then Member of Legislative Council, Government of Karnataka representing teachers constituency and then President of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society, with a forethought and great vision ventured to start B.Ed. College at Bidar to cater to the needs and clearance of backlog of untrained teachers, who were in service and for young teachers in emerging schools in Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
The college was inaugurated on 17th November, 1980 by the then Vice Chancellor of Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, Dr. M. Nagaraj at a function presided over by Dr. A. B. Malakareddy, President of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society.
The college was started with a modest strength of 100 students and 10 teachers, Dr. R.S. Yeli was appointed as the First Principal of this college.
Foundation stone for new building was laid by the then Minister of State for Science & Technology, Government of India Sri. Shivraj Patil Chakurkar on 23-02-1986, Sri. Baswaraj Patil Attur, the then Minister for Irrigation, Government of Karnataka was the guest of Honour.
Initially the College was housed in its sister institution B.V.B College and was inaugurated by the then Minister for Higher Education, Government of Karnataka Dr. Jeevaraj Alwa and the function was presided over by Sri. Basavarajappa Appa, President of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society.
